IT’S ONE THING TO LEARN how Millennials are informed by their Codes, and another thing to really see them in action. CNN Philippines, in collaboration with Havas Ortega, developed a series of reports on contemporary topics that were inspired and informed by the insights gained from the Asia Pacific Millennial Codes.
Being one of the most controversial diseases throughout history, HIV is a topic rife with misconceptions, discrimination, and hatred. In response to the growing epidemic in the Asia Pacific region and particularly in the Philippines, CNN Philippines took the time to dispel these misconceptions, noting that fear, ignorance and hatred only contribute to the spread of the disease, while hurting those who are infected.
As studies have shown that young people are most vulnerable to HIV, CNN looked into the Millennial lifestyle to see what exactly the factors in their behavior are that could put them at risk for the disease. They found that a liberal attitude to sex, through a combination of Millennials’ penchant for living in the moment and their preference for romance on demand through dating apps and social media, may put them at additional risk for HIV infection. CNN Philippines also noted that further sex education could overcome the fear and ignorance about HIV and help stymie its spread.
